What to know before repainting a property
A few things to keep in mind before starting to paint and decorate a property. If you are looking to save money, and just touch up heavily damaged areas, you must have the correct paint colour. When painting any wall, the proper way is to paint the entire wall from corner to corner. It is possible to paint just one wall of a room, and any slight variations of colour will not be really noticeable.
When changing colours of paint, it is important to decide how many coats of paint you want. Repainting a white wall with white paint can sometimes be done with just one coat of paint. However, repainting a blue wall to white, may require two or three layers of paint.
Damaged walls with dents and scrapes need plastering work to smooth out the surface before painting. Plastering takes time to dry, and then needs to be sanded for a smooth finish. A lot of dust is created when sanding, and it is important to arrange that the tenant is not using the property while the works are being completed.
A final tip for painting, is to take a picture of the paint colour, and save it. It will come in handy when you want to buy touch up paint in a few years.
